Hauntingly Quaint

Bricks and lanterns and lights and peace
The forlorn days and the ghosts on the
Walls that stand tall and inviting
Sprawled across the grassy lawn
I pause and I feel alone
As if time stopped and the past spoke
Whispered the secrets and taunted today's naught understanding
Swallow of figures milling about
Two worlds, one place
Forgetting what is behind, yet so evident in this place
Each brick mutters a strained breath
A sigh of history
